Beginning in October, the Church of St. Vincent Ferrer will begin its 2008-2009 music season. As you can see, Dr. Mark Bani, the parish organist and music director, has put together another fantastic program. Look over this year’s concerts and mark your calendars!

Season-Opening Organ Recital
Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at 7:00 P.M.
Music by Bach, Gigout, and Reubke
Dr. Mark Bani, in his 16th year as Director of Music and Organist at The Church of St. Vincent Ferrer, opens the new season with a recital on the church’s acclaimed 86-rank Schantz pipe organ. His program will include Reubke’s monumental Sonata on the 94th Psalm. (free will offering)
Third Annual All Souls Commemoration Concert

Sunday, November 2, 2008 at 7:00 P.M.
The St. Vincent Ferrer Chorale and Soloists present a late renaissance choral masterpiece by Portuguese composer Manuel Cardoso. The program will also include anthems for All Souls Day. (free will offering)
Terence Flanagan, Organ Recital

Concert organist Terence Flanagan is the Associate Organist / Director of Music at the First Congregational Church of Greenwich, CT. He performs throughout the US and abroad to great acclaim. (free will offering)
Handel’s Messiah, Part I

Advent Ceremony of Lessons and Carols

Including works by Pearsall, Ord, Howells, and Mathias
A favorite holiday tradition at St. Vincent Ferrer, the chorale and soloists, clergy, and lectors present this festive liturgy proclaiming God’s promise of salvation to mankind, through sacred scripture, anthems, and familiar carols. (free will offering)

James Wetzel, Organ Recital
Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at 7:00 P.M.
Music by Bach, Howells, and Dupre
James Wetzel is a senior organ performance student at The Juilliard School. He is Organist at St. Malachy’s Church- The Actor’s Chapel here in New York City. He also directs a chamber choir based in Pittsburgh, PA. (free will offering)
Concert Honoring the Blessed Virgin Mary
Sunday, May 3, 2009 at 3:00 P.M.
The St. Vincent Ferrer Chorale and Soloists under the direction of Dr. Bani present a concert in honor of Our Lady. Music will include Bach’s celebrated Magnificat, as well as other Marian anthems. Guest organist, Michael Stairs of the Philadelphia Orchestra will accompany the concert on our pipe organ. (free will offering)
